Does it smell like beef?
No. Our 100% tallow body butter has the subtle smell of fresh cedar and fir trees. No essential oils needed.
What do you mean by whole plant?
Whole plant refers to the use of leaf, stem, flower, needle etc... as opposed to steam distilled, concentrated essential oils of that plant. Some people might prefer whole plant infusions for more sensitive skin or daily use.
How long does this product last?
It really depends on how often you moisturize! If you're using only on hands after washing dishes it might last you many months. If using as a whole body moisturizer after bathing it might last 1-2 months. That being said- this is a 100% fat-based product and a little goes a long way!
What are the topical benefits of douglas-fir and western redcedar?
The oils in conifer needles are naturally purifying and antibacterial having compounds shared with rosemary, eucalyptus and orange, making them excellent allies for a clear complexion. Western redcedar, a species renowned for its rot resistance, is unsurprisingly anti-fungal. It has also been said that cedar promotes immune function by stimulating the scavenge of white blood cells.
